The club’s competition programme will contain a cross section of events designed to provide the opportunities for swimmers at all
levels to participate.
To achieve this balance the club needs to take part in a selection of team events and open meets of varying standard.
The selection of swimmers for team or individual galas needs to observe any rules that may be laid down by league or gala promoters,
such as age, maximum number of swims per competitor, standard of gala (i.e. graded galas with cut of times or meets requiring qualifying times)
etc.
Team selection will change depending on the event in question. It will be the policy of the Club to select the best eligible team in the
Speedo and Crusader leagues. In the Peak and Plains League, however, the team selection will be different in order to conform with the
League’s rules.
Responsibly for team selection rests with the Head Coach or Assistant coaches depending on the Gala in question.
It is the Club’s aim to encourage as many swimmers as possible to enter the Club Championships, in accordance with the entry conditions.
It is up to the swimmers and their parents to decide whether to accept an invitation to represent the club in team galas or open events,
but as a Swim 21 accredited club, and in order to fulfil their squad’s prerequisite, we would expect support of the Club in its quest for
success.
Any parents or swimmer who has a problem with team selection has a right to an explanation however, other swimmer’s involvement will not be discussed.
Time will be made available for them to discuss these problems with the relevant Team Manger or Head Coach and a written explanation will be supplied on request.
